Fargo Composers Press
Publishing new music from the NDSU composition community

About Fargo Composers Press

Fargo Composers Press (FCP) is a publishing imprint dedicated to sharing new music created in and around the North Dakota State University composition community. The press exists to give student composers real-world experience with music publishing, distribution, and professional presentation.

FCP publishes a wide range of work—solo and chamber music, choral and large ensemble pieces, recordings, and special projects—reflecting the diversity of musical interests and approaches within the program. Rather than focusing on a single aesthetic, the press emphasizes craft, curiosity, and the process of bringing new music into the world.

Educational Mission

Fargo Composers Press is closely tied to the pedagogical mission of the NDSU music composition program. Student composers participate in the preparation of scores, creation of performance materials, metadata management, and publication decisions, gaining hands-on experience that complements their compositional training.

The goal is not only to publish music, but to demystify how music moves beyond the classroom: how it is shared, sold, performed, archived, and encountered by performers and audiences.

Partnerships

Fargo Composers Press operates in partnership with NoteForge, providing infrastructure for digital publishing and distribution, and is supported by the NDSU Music Composition area within the Challey School of Music.

While rooted at NDSU, the press also serves as a platform for collaboration, documentation, and experimentation—allowing student work to exist in the same professional ecosystem as faculty and alumni projects.
